sam – what store/site would you recommend for the best deal on the john commentary? my default is amazon…
amazon is probably the best, hoon.
Sam (and Hoon): any thoughts on Calvin’s commentaries? How about Boice? MacArthur?
I really like Boice. I’ve been using him for John and he does a great job on the expositional side that some of the exegetically commentaries leave out. Calvin always has some tremendous insights. I haven’t used MacArthur at all. I would imagine he’d be good as well, as long as you know how to filter out his dispensational presuppositions.
Ha ha, Sam – that presumes that you would want to filter out the dispensational presuppositions! Also, Boice is excellent on Romans.
Tim, I WANT to filter those out.
:cheeky:
heh heh – Sam, if you do that you may be Left Behind – heh heh, thanks for that set up!
