Personal Thoughts

Living by Faith

Tomorrow, I will be taking the Snymans (CEO of Hands at Work, Africa) to Muir Woods, Marin Headlands, and other places. Hopefully, I’ll be able to post some pics of that time. But as I sit listening to George share about his journey as to how he first got involved with AIDS and children, it truly is amazing. Without retelling every story, I am so amazed of how God has led the two of them thus far. Prayers are continually answered miraculously. It’s so easy for us in the West to wonder why such prayers are not often answered in our lives. When I hear their stories, it reminds me of the Bible. It reminds me of Philip being scurried away by the Spirit to a place he is to be. But they have taken such bold steps of faith and a giving up of all things in their lives, that God certainly speaks to them quite distinctively. It truly is amazing in that way.

Well, here is a few pics I took while we were at Monterey. Sometimes I wonder what they are really thinking of when they see such sights, such as the opulence of places like the SF Bay Area. And then I start thinking, “I wonder what God thinks. He sees 30,000 children die in Africa each day due to disease and hunger and he sees 30,000 dogs in Carmel all dressed up and raring to go out on the town in their comfortable cars and air-conditioned and heated dog houses (this number is somewhat a guess, but from the amount of dogs I saw at Carmel, I bet it’s pretty accurate).
