These days, I don’t think you need to go to seminary to get a seminary education. There is so much now on the web for free and so many great books and great blogs from seminary professors, that all you need to have is an mp3 player, a computer, a desire to learn.
Here are some of the FREE online resources I have found (mp3s and articles) that are just rich with info:
Reformed Theological Seminary
“Tons of course audio from Reformed Theological Seminary is available for iTunes U.”
Covenant Theological Seminary
“Our Ministry Resources archive currently contains more than 1500 free print and MP3 audio resources — including sermons, articles, conference talks, and panel discussions –from Covenant Seminary’s faculty, guest speakers, publications, and more.”
D. A. Carson
He’s one of the leading NT scholars of our day and a prof at TEDS. And virtually everything he has said that is recorded or written online is here.
Wayne Grudem
He used to be a leading prof at TEDS and is now at Phoenix Seminary and has written so much for the church. His whole Sys Theo (which is one of the best out there) class is online. If you’re going to take Sys Theo for your virtual MDiv, why not take it with one of the best.
Monergism.com
Not only does this site have virtually every great article written by people of past and present, by they also have many mp3s for free.
Desiring God Ministries
Everything John Piper, including sermons and videos, and most for free.
Westminster Theological Seminary
Many of Westminster’s lectures are online for free.
Third Millennium Ministries
A seminary for free started by Richard Pratt. Here’s what the site says:
Our goal is to provide Christian education to hundreds of thousands of pastors around the world who lack sufficient training for ministry. We are meeting this goal by publishing and globally distributing a free multilingual, multimedia, digital seminary curriculum in English, Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Russian and Spanish. The curriculum is designed to be used in support of existing schools, as well as by groups and individuals. It consists of three central elements: graphic-driven videos, printed instruction and internet resources.
Anyone have more resources? I know there are tons more out there. Please let me know. Anyone planning on getting a virtual M.Div.?

Nice, Sam! I hadn’t heard of the RTS site and am there now. One thing on DAC’s messages – they seem to go down almost as quickly as they go up. I think he garners the most unusable links of any speaker I try to download.
