Each one of these kids have stood over two graves and are now being cared for by a brother or sister who is sometimes only 10-13 years old. It’s a sobering thought. They get one meal a day, what they receive at the Lula Center, unless there is food brought to their home by Masoyi Home Based Care. But as George Snyman noted, more than AIDS and TB, food security (having food to eat) is the orphans number one problem. In a place of plenty like the US, that really is staggering to imagine. This shouldn’t be, that children should be dying because of lack of food, especially when considering that it is the responsibility of the church to care for the orphan and the widow.
