Perhaps you might have seen the No on 8 ad that has Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O’Connell saying that it is “shameful” for proponents of Prop 8 to say that a No vote will impact public school education. Well, more and more evidence is contradicting Superintendent O’Connell’s ‘shameful’ accusations. It seems Hayward’s Faith Ringgold School of Art and Science, a K-8 charter school, held a ‘surprise’ Coming Out Day. One mother of a KINDERGARTNER asked what she had learned at school, and she responded, “We’re learning to be allies.” The Pacific Justice Institute reported:
The mother also learned that her daughter’s kindergarten classroom is regularly used during lunchtime for meetings of a Gay Straight Alliance club.
Later this week, the school is slated to talk about families. The parents have noticed several posters promoting families, all of which depict only homosexual families. More controversial discussions can be expected through next week, as the elementary school continues to celebrate Gay and Lesbian History Month. On November 20, the school will host TransAction Gender-Bender Read-Aloud, where students will hear adapted tales such as “Jane and the Beanstalk.”
And this happened without parental notification.
Also, watching the NO on 8 commercials, Superintendent O’Donnell says, “Our schools aren’t required to teach anything about marriage.” But what it does say according to the California Department of Education website, the LEA (local education education, that is, schools) “encourages students to develop healthy attitudes concerning adolescent growth and development, body image, gender roles, sexual orientation, dating, marriage, and family. (EC 51930[b][2])” In other words, they’re not “required” to teach about marriage, but they “encourage students” about marriage. And given what has happened in SF and now in Hayward, this is really happening.
Personally, it seems more factual to say that California schools WILL teach gay rights, gay marriage, and the legitimate options of homosexuality to students. One could even say that to do so is to promote non-discrimination and a more diverse and open lifestyle and worldview toward homosexuals. Such a stance would seem to be more honest to me and one could even try to make a case around it. But to say that the schools do not teach marriage or homosexuality to students is simply not true.

It is so sad, that our school system seem so anti on Jedo Christian teachings when the very foundation of the United States schools was founded on these values. Have we forgotten or never known that the public education in the US was created so children can read the Bible.
That most of the Ivy league schools were once to trained ministers.
The Bible is a book about grace and love. Why do people go against God? when God is so gracious and offer love. But I completely understand why, because of sin! and think we know better than God! I am often that why especially when I’m am in control of everything and have power over others then my pride comes in play. Why are schools in the USA fallening behind others. That education in America is a big issue and people yelling for reforms. That many schools are not doing well in test scores. Well it not that hard to figure out. Students are being taught the wrong stuff. The media has too big of an influence on people. I believe in compassion, for Jesus Christ was one the most compassionate person that every lived, but if gay rights are taught why is teaching Godly values so wrong! We want to children to grow up moral and upright, how can we do that if Godly values are not taught?
