Questions on Love Vs. Idolatry

  1. What are some ways that we, as single people, can idolize marriage?  How can this actually lead to lesser joy instead of more joy?  How does your identity in Christ actually give you peace and joy in the midst of your current circumstances regarding life stage?  In what ways do you think a single person can uniquely worship Christ than can a married person?  Please explain and share.
  2. Why is fighting for your needs being met actually self-defeating and robs you of the joy of marriage?  Can you give a personal example from your own marriage?
  3. Does your marriage have Christ at the center of it?  If so, what does this practically look like?  If not, why not?
  4. How can you as a husband worship Christ and lead your wife to love Christ more while gaining your own personal joy for yourself in your marriage?  Do you think this is possible?  How can you as a wife worship Christ and follow your husband’s leadership more while gaining your own personal joy for yourself in marriage?
  5. What are some things that married people can learn from singles in their pursuit of Christ?  What are some things married people can do to help singles in their pursuit of Christ?  What are some things single people can learn from married people in their pursuit of Christ?  What are some things single people can do for married people in their pursuit of Christ?  Come up with some practical ways to make this happen and then consider implementing them.
