Personal Thoughts

Kids Don’t Play Like They Used To

Al Mohler talks about kids forgetting what it feels like to play outdoors.  I think kids have simply forgotten what it feels like to play as kids (or maybe it’s the parents who have forgotten what it’s like to play as kids).  So what stops kids from playing?

1.  Wii
2. Nintendo DS
3. Anything Pokemon
4. DVDs/Videos/TV (I watched a lot of TV when I was a kid, but there was no such thing as videos. So often you’d get bored of TV and go outside to play).
5. Evil (kidnappers, child molesters)
6. Tract homes (teeny backyards)
7. Food (obesity amongst kids is at its highest)
8. The Internet (chatrooms, IM, games, etc.)
9. Play dates (Life for a kid today is more scheduled than it is for some adults)
10. Anything else?
